My Soul To Take... Well you took it Wes Craven. Thanks a lot

What it with this poster? Seriously?
So, after a very lovely discussion on modern horror I decided to start a movie review blog to complain to the world. And my very first review will be the movie that inspired me to take this leap, My Soul To Take.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm off-my-meds happy that there's a slasher movie out in todays era of torture porn and supernatural style horror. And I was beyond excited for this movie knowing that it was a Wes Craven movie. With my crazy nerd schedule being filled, the minute I got the chance I watched it. So there I was, 10:30 at night, all the lights off, ready to watch people get violently killed.
The movie starts out with the most decent gore you'll get the entire movie. It's actually pretty intense and fun to watch, so you'd figure it set the tone for the rest, right?
Er, no. It was basically a bunch of introductions that won't matter til later.

BE GOOD

The middle of the film was like watching a really bad teen movie. There was the socially awkward main boy, the best friend, the token minority, the beautiful girl, the mean girl, the religious chick, and the jerk jock. Their interactions were uninteresting and took up too much time. Then when the killing really started it happened too quickly. The climax was a confusing blur. The "twist" at the end was so incredibly predictable and it managed to be confusing as hell  at the same time. The whole plot didn't turn out to make much sense in the end and i felt as if there may have been something completely left out of the movie that explained everything.
There was also some of the WORST kill scenes I've seen in years. If you want a gore filled fun ride of a horror movie this is not for you.

This is what you get for being blonde in a horror movie.

So the lesson here? If you're a hardcore slasher fan, watch it for kicks. But if you're not don't waste your time and complain about Wes Craven afterwards. Here's hoping Scream 4 (*dies of excitement*)  will be much, much better.

Get to know me! Yeah, it's not too exciting...

So, after a riveting conversation with my friend and my dad I decided to start a blog to complain about crap. I have too many opinions to keep bothereing people close to me with so if you do so decide to read this I will now bother you. But before I head straight into tearing apart movies, books, tv shows, and more I would like to give you a little info on me, My name is Lakota Lenz and these are my....

Top 10 Favorite Movies
10.The Dark Knight-Quite possibly the best superhero movie ever made. It's a masterpiece.
9.Enchanted- An affectionate parody of princess movies, Enchanted has a great soundtrack and truly funny parts.
8.A Nightmare On Elm Street-A "Craven Classic" and the first movie to scare me. Whatever you do, don't fall asleep.
7.Back to the Future-Good movie. I'm sorry, did you want me to say something else? THAT'S THE POWER OF LOVE!
6.Scott Pilgrim vs. The World-An adaptation that some may dislike, but I found it captured the spirit of the comics. Plus the cast was AMAZING.
5.The Wizard of Oz-A classic that brings memories for everyone that watched it as a child. Though not as fantastic as the book, this adaptation can not be judged by that.
4.Serenity-As a Whedon devotee this is an absolute must. As well written as Firefly this is the epitomy of how great Whedon can be and why his fans are so loyal.
3.Can't Buy Me Love-While not on par with The Breakfast Club, this movie came out on top as my favorite teen movie. It was fun, charming, and had Patrick Dempsey at his cutest.
2.Scream-Bringing back horror in a wonderfully self aware way, this movie got me into horror and changed the way I watched movies forever. Anyone who disses this should stop reading now.
1.Up-This is the embodiment of pure wonderful filmmaking. The sad parts are heart breaking, the funny ones knee slapping. It's pure fun and wonder for a child and a clear message for an adult. Pixar at it's best.
